Simon Donato-Woodger
Scarborough General Hospital

Simon Donato-Woodger currently works as an intensive care unit registered nurse (RN) at Scarborough General Hospital in Toronto, and as a relief RN at a supervised consumption site (SCS) at the Parkdale Queen West Community Health Center. According to Simon, health-care challenges at every level – from acute medical emergencies and understaffing to chronic social issues such as homelessness – are without question rooted in public policy. He focuses on addressing these challenges both in his practice as an SCS RN, and as a policy and political action executive network officer for RNAO Region 6. Since October 2022, Simon has organized eight constituency meetings to discuss repealing Bill 124 and increasing funding for SCS services across Ontario.

The Leadership Award in Political Action is presented to the RN or NP who acts as a change agent, resource and mentor through political action. This individual is actively involved in discussions with MPPs/MPs, other decision-makers, and media that benefit the health of individuals or communities.
