The Black Nurses Leading Change interest group (BNLC IG)  informs RNAO and our members on issues affecting Black nurses and nursing students. Informed by the work of RNAO’s Black Nurses Task Force, the group tackles anti-Black racism in the nursing profession and academia, and advocates for the professional advancement of Black nurses, always reflecting the voice and priorities of its members. The BNLC IG offers continuing education and unique opportunities to meet with inspirational high-profile Black nurse leaders and allies from our local and international nursing community – they share their career journeys and experiences and how they overcame common challenges on our paths to becoming successful nurse leaders. To promote and support mentorship, the BNLC IG also provides safe spaces for Black nurses, nursing students and allies to network through webinars or social media. BNLC IG members happily join other colleagues, groups and allies who champion health equity advancement to improve health care and services for all.

The Interest Group of the Year award is given to an RNAO interest group that best demonstrates commitment to the nursing profession and active participation in RNAO initiatives. The interest group effectively communicates through a variety of means, which influences decision-makers and mobilizes RNs, NPs and nursing students for action. This interest group exhibits exemplary teamwork and strong leadership within the nursing and health-care community.
